    If I buy one I will …
If I buy one I will have to have the embarrassing hybrid logo on the side removed.

  • Airox180:

    Not sure about that …
Not sure about that. Just floor that Tahoe on the motorway and see what mileage it gets. After a very short period the batteries are run down and this large SUV runs in gas mode.

  • Airox180:

    You`re right about …
You`re right about that. An SUV of this kind is heavy and way to big for most people. A sleek and aerodynamik hybrid station wagon or modern van would be much more fuel friendly. Besides, just look at the Tahoes front bumper, it will not even tackle the easiest offroad tracks.

  • Airox180:

    LOL, nothing sounds …
LOL, nothing sounds better than an american V8.

    Seriously, a …
Seriously, a publicity stunt?! Why would GM develop this hybrid technology with BMW and Daimler Chrysler and test in municipal applications such as busses? It wasn’t the CEO of GM, it was Bob Lutz, vice chairman.
Granted, he was off the mark by a country mile, but isn’t he the person heading the Chevy Volt project? IMHO, this is a step in the right direction.

  • emforty2:

    lets see if this …
lets see if this hybrid takes GM out of bankrupcy !!

  • emforty2:

CEO of GM years ago …
CEO of GM years ago before the price of gas went up said the Prius was a publicity stunt.

GM now hastily came out with a hybrid a knee jerk reaction to high gas prices

i guess this is GMs publicity stunt

  • the1jake:

    Seriously? This …
Seriously? This technology IS proven/tested. Next time you *may* want to actually perform your due diligence. Considering it was developed by BMW/GM/Daimler-Chrysler, the previous statement is wholly incorrect.

    Tahoe Hybrid is …
Tahoe Hybrid is available today for approx. 43,500. Add to this a tax credit of $2200 and you basically have a hybrid for the cost of the 5.3L gasoline flex-fuel Tahoe. Add to this an increase of at least 25% in average MPG and it’s a no-brainer decision.

GM is definitely headed in the right decision. Let’s face it, this is a transitionary vehicle which will lead to more which will undoubtedly have better MPG in the years to come.

    Honda V6 Gets above …
Honda V6 Gets above 25…I have ONE! But in any case i never said it wasnt better than the competion. Which really inst alot of. Considering that toyota and nissan jus started making BIG Suv. Most of the imports make cross overs which get in the low 20’s in da mpg. Which they arnt even hybrids. But 20mpg flat is no good. Rather its from toyota or gm

  • kndrice:

    When every other …
When every other full size SUV competitor(Toyota included) gets only an average of 14 MPG, it IS an improvement. Lets be real about what we are comparing. And the fact is that actual mileage in the real world has been reported consistently at 25 MPG city with this vehicle. Most Toyota/Honda V-6’s can’t claim this.

  • jtlovett27:

GM is going in the …
GM is going in the right direction but they missed the big picture. 20mpg isnt great no metter wat you tag that too. PERIOD. SUV, CAR….20 mpg is nothing to be exicted about. When they produce an 30mpg SUV. Then Ill say wow. But 20…lets be real hear folks

  • bd189:

    it would be alot …
it would be alot higher mpg if it used the diesel engine that powers the refrigeration unit of the trailers that deliver your food to stores. the mpg isn’t any better than a 1/2 ton, 2wd, standard cab short bed pick up. with the small diesel it could be a 30-40mpg vehicle.

  • lextastic:

    this only …
    this only happens in usa..

  • Myaurora2001:

That is true, a big …
That is true, a big heavy 6,000 lbs suv getting 19-21 mpg in city is very good. GM is the first full size suv to come out with a hybrid.

  • kndrice:

    You are comparing …
You are comparing apples to oranges. You still pay $50,000 for a Sequoia, Armada, or Expedition and they still only get 13MPG. The Tahoe Hybrid buyer is not a Prius buyer. and 7MPG is a significant improvement in my book for the same price if I have a family of 5.

  • emforty2:

    19 MPG on a $50,000 …
19 MPG on a $50,000+ vehilce….no one’s buying this GM sold very few units…and they call it Green !!

GMs hybrid is not proven/tested they rushed this in the market Toyotas prius system has been out 10 years

GMs CEO laughed at prius saying its a publicity stunt and that was 5 years ago now they have a hybrid too…

    monkey see….monkey do

  • scottyb110:

    “Added price and …
“Added price and size”. What’s the different size? You guys saw an average of 20% better fuel economy. Are gas prices going up 20% during the time of ownership? How about this summer? 20% better range, 20% discount on fuel, it’s faster, has a decent tow rating. GM did a good job. BTW, the econo gauge swings in both directions. If you brake too hard it won’t regenerate, it’ll use the discs. If you floor it, the econo guage will swing in the other direction.

  • kndrice:

    Apparently you are …
Apparently you are a pea brain because no other large SUV is even close.

  • kndrice:

    A Camry V-6 still …
A Camry V-6 still does not do better than a Tahoe Hybrid. And it can haul my 5 children.

  • emforty2:

    we have the freedom …
we have the freedom to keep buying SUVs even at $7 to $12 a gallon…believe me this is sooner than you think..

I luv Freedom of choice its great!!

  • Nickos1b:

    Perhaps fuel prices …
Perhaps fuel prices are going to drive people to more efficient cars and lifestyles before governments step in with bans and regulations. Cars are part of the equation but how can they be more efficient? Smaller, hybrid, modern diesel - whatever works. Even carrying more than the average 1.5 people per car automatically makes it more economical even an SUV. That said I wouldn’t buy an SUV even a hybrid one at this time.

  • jpbalkenende:

    So I can’t …
So I can’t criticize SUV’s in the name of freedom? You are a tard.

  • thastankanator:

    another smug, …
another smug, condescending enviro-nazi who does not care about other people’s freedom to buy and drive what they need for their families.

  • jpbalkenende:

    And if you insist …
And if you insist on a SUV a Volvo XC90 diesel will give you the same mileage.
